Description
While at first glance one might think the AMG GTR Black Series is just a GTR with a big wing and splitter, a closer look reveals a very different story.
Historically, Mercedes has fiddled with its AMG Black Series cars by changing out suspension and body panels to increase aggression, but for the first time they created an all new powertrain for the AMG GTR Black Series. While the 4.0 V8 in the GTR makes a respectable 577hp, the GTR Black Series uses a flat plane crank engine with uprated turbos to produce 720hp and a higher rev limit. Using aerodynamic tricks pulled from the AMG GT3 race car, this car has an adjustable front splitter, rear wing, a flat underbody with fins directing air to the rear diffuser, fender vents to relieve air pressure in the wheel arches, and large vents in the hood to keep the monstrous motor cool on track days.
While the exterior and interior definitely feel quite "motorsport" with carbon and alcantara throughout, the cabin still maintains to be a comfortable place to spend time in. With apple carplay, dual zone climate control, and a Burmeister stereo you could enjoyably drive from the race track to a dinner out in town.
